TABU is a Danish independent label and production unit founded in 1998. TABU consists of Copenhagen natives Rune Rask, Troels Nielsen (aka TROO.L.S.) Emil Simonsen (aka Orgi-E), Andreas Bai Duelund (aka Bai-D), Per Hjaltason and Kasper Faerk. The founders count both rappers and producers alongside business visionaries. The organization is ideologically based on creative and artistic freedom, offering each member main influence on both music and everything in regard, ranging from marketing strategy to public relations. This approach requires a great deal of talent and discipline from everyone involved and as a consequence TABU - in short - can only afford to work with the best! The strategy behind TABU is mainly based on achieving long term goals, believing that a solid foundation is the ideal platform for lasting success. Working from the ground up, at the expense of chasing one-hit wonders, the TABU brand has become synonymous with high standards in rap as well as music production. It was decided early on that TABU RECORDS would not focus on aggressive marketing or lavish PR budgets, but instead ensure high royalties and lower break-even rates for artists. This strategy, which perhaps is better described as an overall philosophy, has proven to be a perfect match for the members. The artist themselves always have a say in the process leading up to the final budget decisions. As a result, TABU RECORDS benefits from a strong sense of solidarity from its artists, who not only gain access to professional studio facilities in the heart of Copenhagen but also a valuable and dedicated network.
