About Tahoe Forest Products
Promoting Forest Health Partnering with public and private landowners and the forestry community in the Sierra Nevada to restore burned areas and prevent future fires. Tahoe Forest Products (TFP) is a new Tahoe-based company dedicated to the responsible commercial milling of logs sourced within our region. TFP’s operation will support forest health as part of critical fire fuels reduction efforts on public and private land, and also in the salvage, clean-up and restoration of local areas impacted by devastating wildfires by offering a convenient location to deliver salvaged timber. Working in partnership with the Washoe Development Corporation, an affiliate of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California, our facility will be the first significant sawmill in the Sierra Nevada in several decades, providing employment opportunities for dozens of local citizens and tribal members. We are excited to breathe new life into a long-dormant, locally sourced wood supply chain and invest in American manufacturing. Tahoe Forest Products was formed for the purpose of constructing a commercial sawmill in the Tahoe region that would provide a nearby destination for the responsible processing of harvested and salvaged local timber. We are funded, managed and governed by longtime Tahoe-area residents and investors. The sawmill has the support of key members of our environmental community, including: Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Tahoe Fund, Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, & The US Forest Service Department of Agriculture.
