About Talent Co-Op

A global tech co-operative aimed at nurturing, accelerating and building tech talent across Asia and Africa. The vision of Talent Co-Op is to cultivate the local tech and startup ecosystem and build a reliable pipeline, so that anyone with the dedication and the talent is given a clear direction and the required resources and opportunities to grow and succeed every step along the way. The development of this tech talent ecosystem and funnel relies on the community to work: Workshops: Our workshop coaches are volunteers who are leaders in the tech industry and open source community, and believe in passing on their knowledge to help beginners get their foot into the door. We also support other grassroots tech organisations by offering our volunteers to coach and speak at their events; and we make small donations to their events based on the number of talent they can successfully move to the next stage of the talent funnel. Certification: Our certification program in partnership with CodeGrades benefits open source community leaders who serve as one-on-one mentors in the certification process. Tech Apprenticeship: Our apprenticeship program places talent into actual work projects, where we have regular talks, training sessions, and check-ins to ensure that Apprentices are learning the requisite tech skills, soft skills, and mindful of their own progress towards becoming a productive team member. In addition to our own people, we are very lucky to have industry leaders worldwide volunteering their time to speak and mentor our Apprentices. New talent pipeline: Companies pay Talent Co-Op Apprentices and full time hires standard rates because they are contributing to actual work projects.
