We provide a friendly laid-back approach, taking the worry out of your accountancy and tax affairs. A wide variety of experience including working for HMRC themselves, gives us the knowledge we need to tame the taxman. Tara Hotston, director of Tame The Taxman, has 20 years experience in the accounting profession. Having started her career as a Revenue Officer working for HMRC she moved into practice, beginning with bookkeeping and payroll and moving on to tax returns and final accounts. She set up her own practice in May 2016 and has a wide variety of clients across Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex. She previously worked as an in house Finance Officer for her local Citizens Advice Bureau as well as a finance manager for a group of Estate Agents. Tara feels keeping her skills current and up to date is important. She enjoys studying (honestly!) and is qualified as a Certified Accounting Technician and has an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business. Whilst juggling her business and family life, through self studying she achieved a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting with Oxford Brookes in 2019. In 2022 Tara became a member of Mensa-The High IQ Society. Tara has recently taken a break from studying to extend her family but intends to tackle a Masters in Finance and Investment in the next few years. Tame The Taxman Ltd has full insurance and is registered with the ICO for GDPR to ensure your data is stored and managed correctly. We are also registered with HMRC for anti-money laundering.
