The TANDEM Cat Institute is redefining what feline care can be. We are a clinical grooming and boarding institute built around a singular truth: cats are not small dogs. Their medical, emotional, and behavioral needs are distinct—and so is our model. Our trauma-informed care framework serves some of the most medically complex, behaviorally misunderstood, and systemically underserved cats in the country. From grooming cases refused elsewhere to diabetic cats needing twice-daily glucose checks, we deliver ICU-level care in a feline-only environment designed for safety, dignity, and clinical outcomes. We’ve safely groomed more than 35,000 high-risk cats without sedation, and we’re home to the TANDEM Cat® Boarding Protocol, Sound Sensitivity Scale, and Somatic Body Scan—innovations developed and field-tested in-house. We operate out of retrofitted medical suites with custom-built grooming and recovery spaces, including soundproofed rooms, hydraulic tables, temperature-controlled drying systems, and a 2:1 care model. Our team includes a clinical social worker, neuroscientist, Certified Somatitarians™, trauma-informed grooming technicians, and staff trained in behavioral pacing, feline consent signals, and environmental regulation. But TANDEM is more than a service—it’s a movement. We’re generating original research, publishing in veterinary journals, and creating training pathways for an entirely new category of feline care professionals.
