Founded officially in 2023 by a dedicated group of Canadian scientists and engineers with a profound passion for medical imaging, τauMEDIS derives its name from "tau Medical Imaging Solutions," where the Greek letter tau (τ) holds significance in both magnetic resonance imaging and various neurodegenerative diseases. Boasting over a century of collective experience in the medical imaging domain, the τauMEDIS team is committed to delivering top-tier medical imaging solutions to healthcare institutions and research centers worldwide. Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba in Canada, is strategically located approximately one hour north of the Canada/U.S.A. border and serves as the geographical center of North America. Winnipeg has a rich heritage in medical imaging research and development, dating back to the establishment of the National Research Council Institute for Biodiagnostics (NRC-IBD) in 1992. The NRC-IBD's primary mission was to explore and advance non-invasive medical diagnostic technology, aiming to enhance disease prevention, early detection, and treatment outcomes. Its key areas of focus included magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), and infrared spectroscopy (IRS), leading to numerous pioneering technological breakthroughs in their respective fields.
