About Tax Help for Older People

Tax Help for Older People is a charity service from Tax Volunteers that provides free, independent and expert advice and help for older people on lower incomes. (£20,000 gross per annum or less.) Tax Volunteers is a UK registered Charity (1102276) and an independent company limited by guarantee. The charity was established in 2004. We operate across the UK from our Bridport office base in Dorset assisted by a national network of over 450 tax volunteers. Our volunteer tax advisers are spread right across the United Kingdom. Most of them currently practising or retired tax professionals, including retired HM Revenue and Customs staff. These volunteers give their time and expertise free of charge because they recognise how difficult the tax system can be for older people who can’t afford professional advice and they want to use their skills to benefit the community. Where we can, we will deal with queries and problems over the telephone. If we can't resolve an issue this way , we'll arrange a face-to-face meeting with a volunteer tax adviser. For anyone unable to travel because of disability or lack of transport, we'll arrange fr an adviser to visit a client in their own home. Our advice is free, independent and confidential. Advice can be give on any personal tax matter, large or small. If you are 60 or over, on a lower income and worried about tax, we are here to help. We can also provide training and advice to non specialist advice agencies and to pension providers.
