About Taylor Housing Authority
The Taylor Housing Authority (THA) has been serving the Taylor community for over 76 years with a mission that is simple yet vital: providing safe, quality, and affordable housing while helping residents reach their full potential. Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), THA operates under the oversight of a five-member board appointed by the Mayor of Taylor. Today, we support nearly 250 families through two cornerstone programs: Public Housing Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers – rental subsidies that allow families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities to afford housing in the private market. Tenants contribute about 30% of their income toward rent, with HUD covering the remainder directly to landlords. Our commitment to community extends beyond housing. We partner with nonprofits, local agencies, and businesses to expand opportunities, foster independence, and strengthen neighborhoods. We believe that when families have a stable place to call home, the entire community thrives. Because resources are limited, our Section 8 waitlist only opens every few years through a fair lottery process, and public announcements are made in advance on our website and community boards. While we do not provide emergency housing, we maximize every tool available to serve as many households as possible. Our Vision: Everyone deserves a place to call home. Strong communities grow when every household has a chance to succeed. Affordable housing is key to reducing poverty and building long-term stability. At THA, we take pride in being where housing excellence begins—leveraging community assets to expand affordable housing opportunities and improve quality of life for the residents we serve.
