Herzlich willkommen bei der taz! Was als linkes, lautes Projekt am 17. April 1979 begann, ist mittlerweile eine unabhängige Qualitätszeitung und Institution der deutschen Presselandschaft. Taz ist ein richtiges Unternehmen und gleichzeitig Gegenöffentlichkeit. Das mag widersprüchlich scheinen – doch die tageszeitung lebt durch ihre Gegensätze, die Reibungen und Veränderung. Schließlich ist das Blatt selbst eine spannende Mischung aus relevanter Information, intelligenter Unterhaltung und Irritation. Täglich bringt der Verlag flache Hierarchien mit einer klaren Linie zusammen. Taz engagiert sich für soziale Gerechtigkeit, bedarf zur Finanzierung dieses Engagements aber auch der Genossenschaft. Die tageszeitung ist für ihre MitarbeiterInnen zugleich Sprungbrett und Landeplatz, die Zeitung entlockt den LeserInnen oft Schmunzeln und manchmal auch Kopfschütteln. Sie ist meist kritisch, besonders mit sich selbst. Sie kämpfte in allen Instanzen für die Rudi-Dutschke-Straße, ehrt jedoch noch viel lieber die Heldinnen und Helden des Alltags mit dem taz Panter Preis. Taz ist auch Kantine und anspruchsvolles Café. Feiner Shop und faire Kaffeelieferantin. Zeitvertreib und Haltung. Die einzige Konstante ist unsere Unabhängigkeit.
