Teach For America partners with over 350 urban and rural communities nationwide to expand educational opportunities for children. The Greater Baton Rouge office, founded in 1990, was among the first regional sites and is a proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network. We currently partner with communities in Ascension (Donaldsonville), East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, and Pointe Coupee. With over 500 Corps Members, Alumni, and Ignite Fellows supporting Greater Baton Rouge, 65% remain in education-related fields. This positive momentum thrives through thoughtful innovation, collaboration, and dedication. More than 100 alumni are advancing educational excellence in schools as teachers, school leaders, and curriculum & culture specialists, while others serve alongside schools as systems leaders, chief operating officers, policy consultants, and nonprofit leaders just to name a few. Together with our community, we are making Greater Baton Rouge a place where schools are pillars of educational excellence. From classrooms to districts to state houses across Louisiana, our Corps Members, Alumni, Ignite Fellows, and community partners are reimagining education, striving for the day when every child has the opportunity to learn, lead, thrive, and co-create a future filled with possibility.
