About Team Africa Rising

In November 2018, Team Africa Rising secured a multi-year grant from the Rob and Melani Walton Foundation. The Walton’s were instrumental in our initial work in helping Rwandan Cycling grow to the heights it hit in 2015/16/17 internationally. We then transitioned control to the Rwandan Cycling Federation and have since diversified using this grant, and other funds we raise, to develop professional cycling on the African Continent. By assisting stakeholders across the continent to secure sponsorships and coaching on how to develop relationships with these sponsors, cycling will be allowed to grow with the best riders given the opportunities lacking at the national level. TAR provides access to sponsors, coaches, mechanics, support staff training, online racing & training (via our partnerships with Zwift and Wahoo), invitations to international races, media engagement and promotion, advocacy, and business planning to ensure success for the team and all male and female riders. #AfricaRising
