About Técnico Solar Boat
We’re a group of students from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, who plan to develop a vessel powered simply by energy produced from solar panels. This vessel can reach its 8 meters in length and 2,4 meters at the beam, being its main goal to enter a worldwide competition, manly composed by other colleges. We developed this project with the purpose to create an incubator for a new generation of students, who are passionate about engineering and who covet to gain professional experience before entering the job market. In a world where renewable energies are more and more required, we wish to contribute to the development and disclosure of those same energies. As part of the project itself, we hope that it goes through successive generations and prototypes, in which new and more effective systems will be developed, to make the vessel more competitive and reliable inside the regulation requirements. We want to accomplish a good international of a Portuguese team and consequently acquire recognition from the job market for our students.
