About Teens' Camping Tour of the West

Teens' Camping Tour of the West started in the summer of 1967 when founder, Peter Cole, loaded up a VW van and headed west with a handful of teens from Sanford, NC. With a dream of sharing this amazing country with his travel mates and the hope that the journey would lead these youth down a journey of self discovery, TCTW was born. Forty eight years later, Teens' Camping Tour of the West is still going strong. Each summer we select a group of teens to travel the west with the hope that their senses will be keyed to discovery, but not just to the discovery of this country's majesty, its proud people, its productiveness and its creativity, but ultimately to the discovery of oneself. Teens' will encounter a sense of independence as they maneuver through the day to day of traveling across the country with a large group of their peers. They will also take on the responsibilities of maintaining a camp on the go including cooking, dishwashing, van cleaning, packing the trailers and setting up and breaking down camp daily. In the end life really is quite simple- Love yourself, love others, appreciate nature, use your unique abilities to make the world a better place, all while giving praises to your maker. -TCTW
