Create. Connect. Empower. At TENA, we believe healthcare equity starts with investing in people—both those who need care, and those training to provide it. Based in Los Angeles County, we’re a nonprofit that creates opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals, connects underserved communities to vital resources, and empowers both groups through a model rooted in compassion, equity, and action. We recruit and train pre-health undergraduate and gap-year students to become Patient Care Navigators. These students receive immersive education, mentorship, and real-world experience as they support our mission of delivering free, culturally responsive resource navigation and care coordination to individuals and families facing systemic barriers. Whether it’s accessing food, housing, insurance, or medical care, our Patient Care Navigators meet people where they are—offering guidance, trust, and tangible support. Along the way, our students gain critical skills, exposure, and professional development to prepare for careers in medicine, nursing, PA, pharmacy, and beyond. Through this dual-impact model, we: - Create educational and leadership pathways for the next generation of healthcare providers - Connect clients with the services they need to live healthier, more stable lives - Empower communities and future clinicians alike with the tools to build a more just, people-centered healthcare system We are building a future where healthcare is accessible, inclusive, and rooted in community.
