TEXAR Federal Credit Union is a “community first” credit union, serving our members in and around the Texarkana area since 1951. Employing almost 80 employees, TEXAR includes one main branch and three branch offices in its service area. All citizens of Cass, Bowie, and Miller Counties and most citizens of Red River and Lamar Counties are eligible for membership. Originally established as “Bowie County Teachers Credit Union”, TEXAR has gone through several name changes, including “Bowie-Cass Teachers Credit Union" in 1964, the “Teachers Federal Credit Union” in 1996, and finally “TEXAR Federal Credit Union” in 2001, as it remains today. Throughout our history, TEXAR strives to stay true to our mission: “TO SERVE THE FINANCIAL NEEDS OF OUR MEMBERS” As a not for profit financial cooperative, we are always looking for ways to enhance the benefits received by our membership. This is in stark contrast to profit goals and shareholder pressures that define traditional banks. At TEXAR, we analyze every aspect of our business to maximize value and to provide the highest possible dividend, as well as the most competitive loan rates. It is particularly rewarding when we can combine new technology and operational efficiencies. Some of the exciting technologies recently employed by TEXAR include a fleet of ATMs that accept check and cash deposits; check deposits using your mobile device; and an improved mobile app that makes on-the-go banking convenient and nearly effortless.
