About TexARTS
TexARTS is a nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to cultivate a thriving arts community by exposing all people to the visual and performing arts. The organization is made up of two branches, the Academy and the Professional Series. The TexARTS Academy prepares young talent to achieve their fullest potential as artists, leaders and global citizens. A center for excellence in the education, creation, and performance, TexARTS offers year round arts education programs taught by regional talent and Broadway professionals. The Academy enrolls over 1,000 students each year, offering an educational approach that combines competitive auditions, multiple performance opportunities, and professional instruction helping students gain confidence. TexARTS Academy alumni have been accepted into a nationally ranked university performing arts programs. The TexARTS Professional Series has established itself as an off-the-beaten-path entertainment destination, nestled just outside of downtown Austin, providing the Lake Travis area with a season of musicals, plays and cabarets. BroadwayWorld Austin wrote about TexARTS, “The best theatre in Austin is not in Austin. Technically, it’s in Lakeway.” Each season over 4,300 patrons attend the Professional Series. During the 2019/20 season, over 72% of our patrons attended shows from outside of Lakeway with audience members from 16 states and 192 unique zip codes. TexARTS hires over 100 artists each season to stage our productions. The TexARTS Professional Series is produced in the 124-seat Kam and James Morris Theatre, housed in the Doherty Family Studios.
