About Texas A&M Vertical Flight Design
Texas A&M Vertical Flight Design Team (VFD) is a student-led aerospace engineering group at Texas A&M University dedicated to advancing vertical flight technology. As a premier collegiate team, VFD specializes in the design, prototyping, and testing of cutting-edge eVTOL aircraft, including our latest aircraft Rev-2. Proudly sponsored by Amazon, we leverage hands-on mentorship and strategic funding to accelerate innovation, compete at the Vertical Flight Society’s DBVF challenge, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in college-level aerospace projects. Our core mission is to cultivate the next generation of aerospace engineers through immersive, real-world experience. Team members gain expertise in aerodynamics, composite fabrication, powertrain selection, and flight controls as they iterate through designs. Collaboration is at the heart of VFD. We partner with industry leaders, faculty advisors, and our sister outreach program UpLift, which brings underrepresented high-school students into the world of drone and eVTOL design. Through cross-program workshops, VFD members mentor participants on CAD modeling, 3D printing, and team-based project management, reinforcing our commitment to STEM education and workforce development. Looking to engage with a high-impact university team? VFD offers tailored sponsorship packages, internship opportunities, and guest-speaker slots for organizations seeking to invest in student innovation, aerospace research, and vertical flight breakthroughs. Follow VFD on LinkedIn for updates on our aircraft, application opportunities for prospective members, DBVF competition results, and collaboration announcements—then visit https://www.tamuvfd.org/ to explore how you can propel our mission skyward.
