About Texas Caregiver Support Services
"Texas Caregiver Support Services" or "TXCARE" was started in 2014 by Brian Mertz. Brian first became involved with caregiver issues after his father was diagnosed with Dementia in 2013. Two years later, Brian's mother (who was also her husband's primary caregiver) was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and passed away in June 2015. In September 2018, Brian's father passed away from, "Senile Degeneration of the Brain." After spending almost five-years as a caregiver, Brian decided to become a, "caregiver advocate" and promote caregiver support services, organizations, events, caregiver employment, OTA & CNA training programs in Texas.
