About The 123 Movement - NPC
**The Journey of the 123 Movement: A Story of Resilience and Community** The 123 Movement, a non-profit organisation founded by my wife, Carmen Gillian Hector, and myself, emerged from a profoundly challenging chapter in our lives. It was during a tumultuous time when the President of South Africa announced that our nation was entering a state of disaster and imposed a national lockdown. In an instant, we found ourselves jobless, without income, and faced with the stark reality of having no food, no money for rent, and no means to purchase electricity. In the midst of despair, we instinctively turned to our support networks. We reached out for help, and, more importantly, we prayed. As we navigated this darkest hour, we were met with an inspiring display of humanity and community. Friends, family, and even strangers opened their hearts, offering support in various forms—donations, monetary contributions, and food. The outpouring of kindness we received was overwhelming, so much so that we felt compelled to share what we had with others who found themselves in similarly dire situations. Through this sharing, we realised that many others were enduring even harsher circumstances, surviving with far less than we had. Our hearts were moved by compassion, prompting us to take action. Thus, the 123 Movement was born. We became a bridge, connecting individuals from more privileged backgrounds to those grappling with poverty and hardship. As our own circumstances improved, our mission expanded, helping us evolve from assisting a handful of individuals to making an impact on an entire community. Today, the 123 Movement has grown to feed approximately 200 people each night, three nights a week, in the impoverished community of Factreton. The need is palpable; individuals are driven to desperate measures in their quest for the next meal to nourish themselves and their families. I invite you to connect with me to explore how you can contribute to this cause.
