About The 93% Club Exeter

We are a student-run society dedicated to improving the experiences of state-educated students at The University of Exeter and beyond. 93% of the UK population are state educated, yet at The University of Exeter, we account for ~67%* of the student body. In other words, only 7% students in the UK are privately educated, yet this 7% accounts for ~33%* of intake at Exeter. In a society where privately educated individuals are over represented in almost every field, the 93% club Exeter aims to equalise opportunities, increase social mobility and break down the educational divide, ensuring that students from state school backgrounds in Exeter can have the same positive experience both during and after University. Our aims: (1) To offer students from state school backgrounds a platform to share experiences, opinions, concerns and useful social/educational resources (2) To build a social community for students that have come to The University of Exeter from state schools, including social events and collaborations with students from non-state schools to encourage inclusivity (3) Offer practical advice and professional development opportunities for state school students within the University and local community *stats will be adjusted accordingly
