The Almond Tree is a place where we are passionate about caring for & nurturing babies-at-risk. HIV/AIDS, poverty & substance abuse are the main contributing factors why babies & children are exposed to abandonment, neglect & abuse in South Africa. We have a team of dedicated trained staff who understand traumatized babies. Our babies have very real needs. These needs are to not only be fed & clothed, but to learn to love & trust & to be loved & cared for & guided into a positive, purposeful future. It is our dream to play a significant role in our babies’ lives, giving them a strong foundation so that they can become adults who positively contribute to our society. We are purposeful in nurturing our babies physically, emotionally a& spiritually. We provide an environment that is chemical free and as natural as possible, giving each baby the very best start to healthy development of their brains & bodies. We are dedicated to cooking & providing healthy home grown food for our babies & staff. At The Almond Tree we facilitate optimal development & stimulation of each baby as an individual, providing a stimulating, creative learning environment. The Almond Tree began in the home of Charmaine & Kent McQueen & has since grown to require a dedicated property. Over many years of being exposed to children-at risk in South Africa & seeing how adversely HIV/AIDS, poverty & substance abuse have affected children in our nation, Charmaine & Kent decided, to open The Almond Tree. We primarily offer Temporary Safe Care to vulnerable babies, providing an environment where each baby is valued as a member of their family. We work intensely with various courts & social departments in the field of child advocacy. We have a passion for adoption & foster care & so we assist with these processes as far as we are able to. Restoration, Rehabilitation, Relentless love, Raising up, Repair the broken, Restorer of the streets. This is the root structure of The Almond Tree.
