The Anthropology of Travel (AoT) was founded by Caitlin Denton and Tian Franklin, with the aim of inspiring others to seek-out learning-based and sustainable travel. Too many people travel without searching for a deeper experience to grow from, returning from their trips unchanged and uninspired. It’s time to revolutionize the way we explore the world —sustainably and meaningfully. The central ethos of AoT is to encourage people to use travel to learn about cultures and global socio-environmental issues to increase our understanding of one another and inspire collective action. Our goal is to stay in countries for longer amounts of time to discover and showcase experiences, businesses, and places that uphold traditions, cultural interests, empower local communities and have a low carbon footprint on the world. We seek to present these places in various forms of media including social media channels, podcasts, blogs, guides, and how-to classes. The Anthropology of Travel also offers freelancing services for local or online businesses seeking to expand their reach to English-speaking communities and tourists. These services include brand design, copywriting, photography, videography, and promotional content creation. Whether just passing through or staying somewhere for a longer period of time, AoT provides authentic recommendations that showcase the most unique and genuine aspects of a country’s vibrant culture.
