About The Arc of Haywood

Our mission is to enrich the lives of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, as well as their families. Our Programs Residential Home The Arc of Haywood County has three residential homes with 5-6 individuals living in each home. All homes provide 24/7 staff and individuals are taught the life and social skills necessary to live their life to the fullest as independently as possible. Emphasis is placed on full community participation utilizing local shopping, employment, public transit, banking, restaurants, volunteering and attending recreational and entertainment facilities. Community Living The Community Living Program is for individuals who have proven they are capable to live alone and for others who choose to live with family members but still require assistance to learn life and social skills. The Arc of Haywood County helps the individuals be active in the community, attending community events, volunteering and working at local businesses. Intermediate Care The Arc of Haywood County has one Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) which houses individuals who require a higher level of care than our other homes. These individuals are very involved in the same activities that the individuals in our other programs enjoy. The individuals receive training in life and social skills according to their personal plan goals. Job Coaching/Supported Employment The Supported Employment/Job Coach program works with individuals to find employment in the community. A job coach works one-on-one with each individual to explore the type of jobs they are interested in and possible businesses that may be a good fit. Assistance is given in preparing a resume, completing employment applications and conducting practice interviews.
