The Arts Council of Wilmington/New Hanover County is the lead agency on the arts in southeastern North Carolina. We are the Designated County Partner to the North Carolina Arts Council and have civic development partnerships with the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County. Our mission is to support artists and arts organizations through innovative public/private partnerships that support jobs, stimulate commerce, and showcase the region as an arts destination. *Operate fine art galleries in downtown Wilmington and at Wilmington International Airport *Award more than $75,000 in grants (Grassroots, Regional Artist, and Broadway for a Better World) *Coordinate Fourth Friday Gallery Nights, Wilmington’s premier monthly after-hours celebration of art and culture at more than 20 galleries and art spaces *Oversee the Pedestrian Art public sculpture program *Convene the annual Wilmington Arts Summit, providing networking and professional development for artists and arts organizations *Collaborate with regional partners on numerous projects, including the City of Wilmington, New Hanover County, Wilmington International Airport, Wilmington Downtown Inc., New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Community College, UNCW, and arts partners in Brunswick, Pender and Columbus counties. *Provide information and referral to business and industry, residents & visitors *Market the arts through a cutting edge mobile app, Arts Directory and Arts Calendar, weekly newsletters and daily content on our social media platforms *Coordinate New Hanover County’s participation in Arts & Economic Prosperity V, the nation’s most comprehensive survey of arts organizations and their audiences
