About The Aruna Project

The Aruna Project is an Athleisure lifestyle brand that creates lifelong freedom for survivors of human trafficking through employment supported by holistic care. We’ve created a vertically integrated model from brothel to business with a flywheel effect combining the best of non-profit and business. Through our US non-profit we mobilize thousands across the US to Run for Her Freedom in Aruna Runs or participate in our events. In running for a specific exploited woman by name, Aruna Run participants raise awareness of her need and raise money to help bring and sustain her freedom. Those funds are used in our Training Centers in the heart of the brothel systems to help free the women through a variety of programs, from daily visits in the brothels, to Trauma Informed Counseling, and Skill & Trade Development to accelerate freedom. Through our Indian Private Limited Company (for profit business owned by the US non-profit) we employ those set free from human trafficking through our Training Centers and bring them into an environment marked by holistic care. Each Artisan has access to transitional housing moving to independent living. She earns a competitive wage, health care, retirement and receives on-going trauma counseling. She helps produce high quality Athleisure products utilizing eco-friendly and recycled fabrics & trims that compete in the open market in the US. In purchasing from Aruna each customer receives a functional luxury Athleisure product with great purpose that extends to the very Artisan who handcrafted it. As freedom grows, we are able to employ more women freed from trafficking here in the US. In the US, we have a dedicated team of industry experts and are employing women freed from sex trafficking domestically in our US headquarters, creating an international sisterhood of those who have overcome.
