About The Association for Critical Thinking in Texas

We are a grassroots non-profit organization focusing on establishing; critical thinking, formal logic and behavioral responsibility courses in Texas. We seek to demonstrate to the Texas State Board of Education that these courses are not only beneficial to future citizens and voters of Texas, but will be beneficial economically moving forward. We seek to see Texas lead America in terms of evidence based practice not only in the classroom, in the laboratory but in Texas' emerging and now open political landscape! Let's do our part in making Texas science-based and progressive! We first and foremost advocate a discipline of: 1) viewing an issue from all possible perspectives, 2) identifying biases, logical fallacies or assumptions, 3) searching for evidence that substantiates any claims being made, 4) expecting and accepting complexity and 5) reflecting when scrutinizing all the possible evidence before determining conclusion. This is our criteria for critical thinking. We also promote a healthy understanding of logical fallacies and formal logic and behavioral understanding courses in order to supply regular Americans with abilities to distinguish sound information (from entertainment based information) and keep themselves and everyone intellectually honest from their formative years on forward. We also promote personal fiscal awareness and responsibility in order to improve Texas economically by improving each future Texan's ability to responsibly spend and invest their income. We think this is important to making sure everyone's hierarchy of needs are met so that they can educate and improve themselves.
