The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Washington, DC Metropolitan Chapter is dedicated to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, and medicine (STEAMM). Our members, including both women and men, come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, united by the shared goal of promoting gender equity in science. Our Mission: Support Women in STEM: We work to increase the number of women earning degrees and advancing their careers in science and technology at all levels. Promote Workforce Participation: We strive to increase the representation of women in the STEM workforce, ensuring equal opportunities across all fields. Public Awareness: We actively raise awareness of the vital contributions that women make in science and technology, highlighting their skills, achievements, and innovations.
