About The Austin Meal Movement

We are The Austin Meal Movement, a non-profit social and philanthropic organization based in the University of Texas at Austin. We aim to create a community for all students interested in cooking, learning, sharing, and leading. On top of being a tight-niched community, we thrive to give back to the larger Austin community by doing charity work. Social First, we are a social organization. Our mission is to create an inclusive cooking community for all food-loving individuals at UT. We love friends just as much as we love food. If you are interested in learning how to cook or if you want to cook with other people and make long-lasting friendships, look no further. Our fun-loving members share the same passion and you will have the chance to connect with people just like you. We host many cooking socials, weekly general meetings, cooking competitions, amongst other events to achieve our mission. Philanthropy Not only do we want to create a community, we want to serve the larger community around us. There are people in the Austin area who do not have the same access to great tasting food or even the basic necessities of life like we do. We are a community of people who want to help out those in need. We give back by engaging in various volunteering activities. On top of that, we make food, sell it, and donate the proceeds to our partner Keep Austin Fed, a local charity organization that serves to keep hunger off the streets. Together, we can contribute to making a difference and feeding the underprivileged. How it started The Austin Meal Movement was founded in 2015 by YoonSup Lee, along with founding officers Amy Qin, Rick Kim, Belinda Jiang, Sean Lin, Kristy Lee, and Jimmy Nguyen. Their vision was to create a community for UT students who love cooking, while also helping out those in need in the local Austin area.
