About The Awareness Centre
The Awareness Centre is a psychotherapy and counselling centre offering mental health services from our Clapham, Tooting, and Marylebone centres In London. Founded in 2005 by Michaela McCarthy, The Awareness Centre has over 300 trainee, qualified, and accredited therapists offering a range of therapeutic modalities in private counselling, psychotherapy and psychology, low cost counselling, and within the NHS counselling service. The Awareness Centre also offers psychosexual and relationship therapy, multilingual therapy, child and adolescent counselling, and LGBTQ therapy. Therapists at The Awareness Centre are experienced in working with various issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, eating disorders, anger, addiction and bereavement. We’re proud to work with and be contracted by the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLAM) and South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) in partnership with Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) to deliver free counselling sessions across Lambeth, Wandsworth, and Sutton. The Awareness Centre is a key placement provider in London, offering placements within the NHS counselling services – providing valuable experience of working with a wide range of presenting issues – and our low cost counselling service – providing practical experience of open-ended therapy. Our placement students benefit from in-house group supervision and a strong support structure from their team leader and the management team.
