🐕 Pairing rescued dogs with war survivors for PTSD healing 💉 Northern Uganda’s only animal hospital 📚 Free rabies vaccines & animal education ❤️ Since 2012, we’ve helped thousands of animals and people thrive 👉 Visit our website: thebigfixuganda.org At our animal hospital, we vaccinate animals against rabies, we spay and neuter dogs, treat cats and have also treated other animals including monkeys! The hospital also provides free care to animals in need whose guardians cannot afford to pay. We never turn away an animal who needs our care. The people of Northern Uganda have experienced significant war trauma. Through THE COMFORT DOG PROJECT, we use the healing power of dog companionship to help war trauma survivors (men, women and even children) as part of a program of psycho-social rehabilitation. We run education outreach programs which are aimed at educating and empowering young people to advocate for animals and animal rights. Our paid staff in Uganda consists of 32 permanent staff members from Uganda: 3 professional staff including two female veterinary doctors and one male community psychologist. Except for our paid staff in Uganda, The BIG FIX is a volunteer-run organization with the volunteers and board members covering all of their own expenses, including travel costs to/from Uganda.
