🌍 The Brazilian Doc – Facilitating Your International Medical Journey in the UK I’m Helena Hughes, a doctor who graduated from UFSC and the first Brazilian to complete a full year of independent medical internships in the UK. Today, my passion is to help medical students and doctors unlock unique opportunities in the UK. During my studies, I completed nine internships at prestigious universities such as Cambridge, UCL, and King’s College. However, when I looked for guidance on how to apply for these internships, I quickly realised there was no one offering this kind of support. With no specific programs or consultancies for Brazilian doctors, I had to carve out this path, navigating complex and unfamiliar processes. This journey, as enriching as it was, often felt intimidating and challenging. From culture shock to bureaucratic hurdles and the insecurity of working in a completely different healthcare system, I faced it all. These challenges inspired me to create The Brazilian Doc. I know how impossible this path can seem, but I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be. Through The Brazilian Doc, my goal is to make this journey easier for international doctors and medical students. The UK offers incredible opportunities, but finding the right fit for your profile and navigating the administrative barriers can be overwhelming. Many doctors and students would like to experience the NHS, and many give up simply because they don’t know where to start. My mission is to change that. If I could do it, so can you.
