About The Brompton Fountain
The Brompton Fountain is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting children's heart and lung care at Royal Brompton Hospital and its network of partner hospitals throughout London and the South East. We work closely with the nursing and multidisciplinary teams to provide specialist support and resources to seriously ill children and their families. We also collaborate with the NHS to plan and deliver research projects for children with complex cardiac and respiratory conditions. Our team works directly with patients, carers and extended family from the point of diagnosis. This enables us to be there from the very start of a child’s journey (many during pregnancy), ensuring they receive the best possible support whilst in hospital and in the community. We extend our services beyond childhood - working with specialists in adult departments to support young people who have transitioned from paediatric care. Alongside our wellbeing services we also fund vital medical equipment including 'life-saving' portable defibrillators for children with acute heart conditions who are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Our Trustee Board is made up of senior cardiac and respiratory clinicians who are fully committed to our charity’s purpose and beneficiaries. Highly respected in their areas of expertise our board includes Professor Piers Daubeney, consultant paediatric and fetal cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, Professor Louise Fleming, consultant respiratory paediatrician at Royal Brompton Hospital and senior clinical lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute and Imperial College London and our chair, Dr Michael Rigby, a world renowned consultant paediatric cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital. We are honoured to have Mr J Andreas Hoschtitzky, consultant cardiac surgeon as our patron. Mr Hoschtitzky is a paediatric and adult cardiac surgery specialist at Royal Brompton Hospital and President of the British Congenital Cardiac Association.
