The Broxbourne School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status located in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, England. Vision/Ethos: Broxbourne is a very popular and successful school which achieves exceptionally high standards of work and behaviour from all its students. Our aim is to work in partnership with students and parents to raise students’ expectations and standards of achievement in a secure and supportive environment. We make sure that the school is an orderly, tolerant and caring community which provides a safe and disciplined environment where staff and students work happily together to achieve success. Teaching and learning is exemplary and our well qualified and experienced staff work very hard with all students to achieve academic excellence. Students benefit from an exceptional programme of extra-curricular activities. We set high expectations and encourage students to become reflective, creative, resilient and able to work independently or as part of a team so that they are ready to take their place as global citizens in a changing world. History: The school began life in 1959 with just under 50 pupils as a grammar school (Broxbourne Grammar School) under the headmastership of Ian Laydon. In 1969 the school became a comprehensive school. The school was converted to academy status in February 2012. It previously had been a community school under the direct control of Hertfordshire County Council. The school continues to coordinate with the council for admissions. The school moved into a state-of-the-art purpose built new building in 2021. This multi-million pound project has massively improved teaching and learning facilities as well as enhanced community spaces for sports, music and drama. The school hosts many weekly lettings from local clubs and runs activity camps in the school holidays.
