About The Byerly Foundation
The Byerly Foundation is a private foundation that was established in 1995 using money from the sale of the Byerly Hospital. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees whose primary goal is to be a catalyst for positive change. All Foundation resources are used to benefit the people of Hartsville, SC and have a positive impact on education, economic development, and social needs in our community. Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed more than $25 million in the Hartsville community. The Foundation adheres to IRS guidelines for private foundations and spends a minimum of 5% of its assets annually. Through constant, open discussion, the Foundation supports strategic cooperation and resource pooling among entities seeking to make a difference in Hartsville.
