About The Calalus Group
Calalus Community Charities is a veteran service organization and 501c3 Nonprofit Organization focused on helping homeless veterans and other homeless with supportive services and subsequently working to move them to permanent housing. We have a "Services First” approach to provide our homeless with long-term recovery and life improvement. The mission of Calalus is to help homeless veterans, poor, and disabled individuals achieve health and self-sufficiency and to fight against poverty and homelessness. We believe that affordable housing, sufficient food, and the chance to work for a living wage are fundamental human rights in a civilized society. Since inception Calalus has worked through litigation, public education, and direct services to ensure these goals are realized. The organization was founded in 2016 by a group of volunteers from Metro Atlanta who responded to the needs of individuals being released from the Military and now on the streets. Volunteers provided street outreach, crisis intervention, and benefits advocacy to the emerging homeless population. Founding Board Members raised money to fund the first project and the organization was incorporated.
