Quantum Dental Technologies manufactures and sells The Canary System, which uses a low-powered laser and ‘Energy Conversion Technology’ to examine the crystal structure of teeth. Now the dentist can measure and assess the crystal structure of teeth up to 5 mm deep, safely, accurately and without X-rays. The Canary System assigns an audible and visual numerical value to each area scanned, identifying the degree of structural breakdown. The Canary Number and Canary Chart are easy to understand. The system also produces a Patient Report to use as a tool when discussing treatment plans with patients. A dual purpose device, The Canary System is also an intraoral camera. The Canary System can: -Detect cracks and decay before they can be seen on X-ray -Identify decay around and beneath the intact margins of restorations including composites, amalgams and crowns -Scan through sealants to pinpoint early-stage decay -Identify interproximal decay -Identify decay under and around orthodontic brackets -Differentiate between pit/fissure stain and decay without using an explorer The Canary System identifies decay that would otherwise go undetected. With early restoration, the patient can avoid the cost and discomfort of invasive procedures such as root canals or crowns. If remineralization is the recommended treatment, The Canary System can monitor the success of a remineralization program using quantifiable numbers.
