About The Cares Project

Who we are: The Cares Project, Inc. is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution serving people with incomes at or below 80% of the area median family income who live in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. What we do: Our mission is to help low income individuals and families to become financially secure through car ownership, by making community-funded vehicle loans and by building skills through financial and credit coaching. We accomplish this through our Car Ownership Program. The goal of the Car Ownership Program is to make low interest car loans to credit-challenged, low income working adults. Through our program, customers learn to practice good money management skills, increase their credit worthiness, and receive reliable transportation to get to work.
