The Carl Edward Foundation was created to serve individuals and families impacted by spinal cord injuries and progressive neurological diseases such as ALS, MS, MSA, Parkinson’s, and more. Inspired by my uncle, Carl Edward Carlson—who suffered a spinal cord injury at 19 and faced a lifetime of barriers to basic care, lack of resources, and inadequate funding for his needs—this foundation exists to fill the painful and often invisible gaps that traditional healthcare systems and insurance leave behind. Our goal is to provide individual grants toward the essential but often uncovered needs: accessible medical equipment, adaptive technology, home modifications, mobility solutions, caregiver resources, and beyond. These aren't luxuries—they are necessities for living with dignity and independence. Too often, families are left to navigate life-altering diagnoses with minimal support and overwhelming financial burdens. We believe they deserve more. Our mission is simple but profound: to ensure dignity, access, and a higher quality of life for patients and their families—meeting them where they are with real solutions that change lives. The Carl Edward Foundation thrives through the power of community. We are actively seeking sponsorships, partnerships, private funding, and philanthropic support to expand our reach and deepen our impact.
