About The Center for Cancer Lifestyle Management
Who We Are: The Center for Cancer Lifestyle Management (CCLM) was established in 2021 with the mission of "Using Evidence-Based Lifestyle Management to Improve Cancer Outcomes”. Our work draws on over 30 years of research in peer-reviewed journals that documents how building innate wellness through emotional and social wellbeing, reducing stress, enhanced nutrition, movement and exercise, and positive cognition - gateways to a stronger immune system, decreased inflammation, and improved metabolic functioning - can importantly contribute to the body being less hospitable to cancer cell growth. Working With Our Oncology Partners to Build a Contemporary Approach to Cancer CCLM offers a multi-modal lifestyle intervention which includes a full range of stress management, nutrition, exercise/ movement classes, social and emotional support services, and various cancer-education workshops offered to support patients in their recovery - all under one roof. We partner with patients to design a personalized lifestyle- management plan that addresses the specific needs of their individual circumstances and diagnosis. We educate them about how lifestyle choices impact every cell in their body. We work to cut through the complexity of often competing and conflicting healing claims in the lifestyle health space. We see patients at every point on the cancer spectrum: those who are planning to start active treatment, those who have finished active treatment, those who have been told there is no more treatment, and those in active treatment who want to maximize their care. Our programs are delivered virtually as the world continues to struggle with COVID-19 and to make it more convenient for patients who are already overwhelmed and may have limited energy. While a cancer diagnosis is never welcome, we try to help patients "translate" this moment in their life into a "turning point" which embellishes the life they have or leads them to create more of the life.
