About The Children's Literacy Charity
Literacy is essential and opens up a world of opportunities for a child. The vision of The Children's Literacy Charity is to close the literacy gap for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. As specialists in literacy tuition, our Literacy and Reading Labs in primary schools are nurturing and inclusive environments where children can have the opportunity to close their literacy gap and become confident and resilient learners. Our expert tutors seek to unlock the potential of children who can be up to two years behind where they should be, not just with reading but with all the important literacy skills: writing, comprehension, listening and speaking. After one month of our specialist tuition, children can catch up by four and a half months. Two thirds of the children we support close their literacy gap completely.
