The heart of Philadelphia houses families with incredible potential, families who raise children to be doers with morals shaped by the community. But, as society grows deeper into the digital age, it can be easy to get left behind, especially due to poverty. The Colefeld Foundation looks to put computers into the homes of disadvantaged families who can't afford them to assist in their education and occupational goals. We are a computer recycler/refurbishment organization that receives units from donors and brings them to current operational standards to donate to lower income and disadvantaged families. The lack of a technological device shouldn't be the difference between success and failure for these kids, so we make sure it isn't. We began in 2016 by asking family and friends if they had any old units they no longer had use for and were willing to donate them for a worthy cause. The response was terrific. People understood what we were doing and why. When the units came in, we purchased parts and techs to bring the computer up to current standards and then donated to the people who needed them the most. Although we've come a long way since then, we still get the same joy as when we first started. Here is what we do: Accepts: The Colefeld Foundation receives computers from donors in various conditions. We come to you! Optimizes: We check on the computer's health and performance, and if any fixes need to be made, we optimize the computer, so it's ready for its new home. Gives Back: We redistribute the optimized computers to the people who need them most in our community, giving them the tools they need to be successful.
