The Cookie Project is a social enterprise that employs people with disabilities to make cookies that spark joy. According to Stats NZ, 1 in 4 Kiwis are disabled, and their employment rate is only 22% compared to 70% for those who are non-disabled. We are the only commercial cookies in Aotearoa New Zealand that use the best butter from Lewis Road Creamery. It's the reason why many of our customers are loyal fans of our cookies. We are able to produce 2,500 cookies a day and cater to your budget and requirements. Email us today enquiry@thecookieprojectsnz.com In the 10 months since launching in June 2018: - We have 6 people with disabilities on our current roster, with over 40 more on the wait list to join us. - We have generated over 3000 hours of paid employment at minimum wage of $22.70 an hour. - We received an average of 8.5 out of 10 for happiness level at work from people with disabilities. - We received an average of 9 out of 10 for sense of belonging at work by people with disabilities. - We are breaking down social stigma about disability community because 8 out of 10 volunteers have not worked with people with disabilities prior to coming to our kitchen. - We were the recipient of the 2019 ANZ Migrant Community Spirit Award in recognition of our contribution to the disability community.
