The Coop: Social Club is a Black woman-founded, community-driven nonprofit in Port Orange, FL, dedicated to building a sensory-friendly, inclusive gathering space where autistic adults, older individuals, and allies can connect, create, and thrive. Our mission is simple: Expand Our Village. We believe that every person deserves access to spaces that honor their sensory needs, celebrate their talents, and foster meaningful social connections. Through workshops, classes, and cultural programs, The Coop provides opportunities for members to learn, share, and grow, whether through art, technology, wellness, or community-building activities. We are creating a home that nurtures independence, belonging, and joy. 💡 Why it matters: 1 in 36 adults are on the autism spectrum, yet services for autistic adults beyond childhood are scarce. Older adults face increasing risks of isolation, especially after retirement or relocation. Inclusive, multi-generational spaces create bridges, not barriers, strengthening entire communities. 🏠 Our Vision: A permanent, brick-and-mortar hub that serves as a welcoming hub for individuals and families, with sensory-friendly design, accessible programming, and a vibrant network of partners, educators, and sponsors. 🌱 How we grow: We’re in the exciting stage of establishing our first location. With nonprofit status pending and community partnerships expanding, The Coop is actively building a foundation of donors, collaborators, and advocates who share our vision for equity, inclusion, and community wellness. 📣 Get Involved: Partner with us to host workshops or classes.
