Ever been to a fashion show and then struggled to find that your just discovered new favourite item is nowhere to be found in the shops? Too many pieces are intended for the show or do not succeed in catering for the mass market and never make it into production. The Couture Society seeks to save the extravagant pieces from their prison drawers from mid February and make them accessible. Founder Alexander Schimkat’s vision: “We want to liberate fashionable individualist from the taste tyranny of commerce.” The Couture Society is an online platform, which emerged from Berlin’s creative core. The society makes it possible to directly acquire the designer pieces on a limited edition, exclusive basis. This way, the decision of what should be produced lies is up to the client and not the fashion industry. This is how it works: the homepage will feature direct access to the designers’ collections, from where you can order your favourite pieces. If enough orders accumulate world wide, the clients make a down payment and the designer begins with the production of the pieces – exclusively for clients of the Couture Society. And it isn’t just the fashionistas who benefit. The designers themselves finally have the opportunity to make their individual designs cross traditional borders of commercial markets. "GoSee"
