About The Debate, Eloquence & Rhetoric Society

Welcome to the Debate, Eloquence & Rhetoric Society, The DER Society for short. We are an organization founded by students of the International School of Carthage, making us the first national debate organization founded by high school students. Our aim is to develop Public speaking and debating activities in Tunisia and beyond. The DER Society encompasses different DER Clubs in different high schools. Each one of them organizes debate panels, workshops and events to sharpen the oratory skills of their members. We create a space for individuals from all backgrounds to discuss ideas and shape new ones. Aside from the personal improvement the DER Society offers to its members, we are also developing High School Competitive Debating in Tunisia by giving our members the needed opportunities and training to reach renowned competitions and events at different scales. At the end of the day, The DER Society is all about discussion, learning, improvement, and making lasting memories by meeting new peers and challenging yourself. High School students can join us by joining an existing DER Club in their high school or consulting with us to found their own !
