It provides miners with access to the opportunities, information and tools they need to work with dignity as valued actors in the responsible supply chain and as contributors to their community’s development. DDI looks forward to the day when artisanal miners can work safely, freely and legally; when governments benefit from the sale and export of their country’s mineral resources; and when conscientious consumers can be assured that their jewelry purchase is not only conflict-free, but has also been produced and sourced responsibly, and is contributing to improving the working and living conditions of the people at its source.
