About The Down Syndrome Centre

The Down Syndrome Centres are the first and only service-led facilities for Children with Down syndrome in Ireland. Our main function is to provide vital services to children with Down syndrome from birth to 18 years. We also have a huge focus on families. We have a full-time on-site clinical team who are currently providing services to over 320 children. The centres are a place for parents to meet, get information and advice, make friends, and build support networks and communities. Under our umbrella, we also have The Together Academy which is a college for young adults with Ds and provides a QQI qualification, work experience and a job placement with support. This is a pilot programme which we hope to roll out across the country. We are dedicated to providing vital early intervention services and support to children with Down syndrome; helping them to reach their full potential and creating a brighter and more inclusive future. We recognise how important it is to have early-intervention services available across the country, so we’re thrilled to say that Down Syndrome Centres are now up and running under our umbrella in the Midlands, Cork and Northeast. The centres are family voluntary service charity groups providing services to children with Down syndrome and support to families and carers.
