The development of a world-class outdoor activities hub on the hills and forests above the town will re-establish Dunoon’s proud heritage as one of Scotland’s premier must-visit destinations. Ultimately, the Dunoon Project is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors from across Scotland and the UK, and from overseas too. Thanks to an innovative multi-partner model, plans for the Dunoon Project site include a range of outdoor activities suitable for all ages and abilities. The Project will also play a crucial role in promoting the town, its history, the waterfront and the stunning, natural landscapes of the surrounding area. However, this is a project which aims to be far more than just a tourist attraction. As an initiative originated and developed by local people, there is a real commitment to delivering lasting benefit to the area, its economy and its community. The driving force behind the project is The Dunoon Project Ltd (DPL), a locally-owned, community-based charity. Everyone on the volunteer board of DPL is a local person, completely committed to making sure that the Project delivers maximum benefit to the town and its people.
