About The Elder Statesman
In 2007, Greg Chait, launched the luxury lifestyle brand, the Elder Statesman, a collection founded on the principles of exceptional quality, impeccable craftsmanship and the finest natural materials. The inspiration behind the brand originated from a simple cashmere blanket that had been gifted to Chait. Struck by its luxurious texture and practicality, he began to collect blankets on his world travels, ranging from France and Scotland to Italy and Ethiopia. Inspired by the manufacturing process and understanding that there was a huge gap in the market for items made and designed at the highest level, he decided to launch The Elder Statesman Brand. With his beginnings in custom blankets, Chait first transitioned into knitted hats before expanding to include full ready-to-wear, accessories, home interiors and eyewear collections. Every piece is done by the best Artisans across the globe. The home collection has expanded to include a variety of blankets, quilts, pillows, and fabrics from a massive inventory of specialty cashmere yarns. For Holiday 2011, Greg launched TYRO by tes at select Barney’s stores nationwide. TYRO was created as a natural extension of The Elder Statesman brand, at a more attainable price-point. The Elder Statesman is currently available internationally at the finest stores from Barneys New York, Maxfield in LA, and A’maree’s in Newport to L’Eclaireur in Paris, Biotop in Tokyo, Hostem in London, amongst other top retailers.
