About The Fair Play Collective
The Fair Play Collective is a nonprofit initiative focused on changing how independent games are made and supported. We’re not a publisher. We’re not a venture fund. We’re a community-driven effort to give small studios the time, funding, and freedom to create on their own terms. We believe that great games come from people, not corporations. That means no crunch, no layoffs to meet investor expectations, and no need to compromise creative vision for market trends. Our mission is to help studios survive and thrive over the long haul so they can take risks, push boundaries, and make the games they believe in. Our funding model is simple but powerful: a monthly subscriber base supports a portfolio of small studios. Instead of backing individual game projects, our community backs creators directly. That money doesn’t come with equity requirements or revenue sharing. Studios retain full ownership of their IP and keep 100% of their earnings. We just help make the work possible. Backers get behind-the-scenes access, early builds, studio updates, and a voice in shaping how the Collective grows. They don’t need to act as investors or tastemakers. They support because they believe that games can be better when developers have real agency. We’re currently in our early stages, finalizing the studio support model, drafting our ethics and transparency guidelines, and talking with studios, collaborators, and supporters who share this vision. If you care about sustainable game development and want to help build a better model, we want to hear from you. Whether you're a developer, backer, ally, or just curious, your voice matters here. Real humans. Fair support. Bold games.
